The Big Shout !

Surfing thru' the channels, i suddenly saw well dressed men and a woman in the midst of caocphony and mayhem. I assumed that it was a scene from the 'Diet', the Japanese parliament. Turns out it's just another episode of 'The Big Fight' in NDTV. It's been a while since i watched this programme, so i just settled down for some enjoyable debating.But i was thoroughly disappointed, not just the shouting and fighting(though i must admit that it made for some enjoyable viewing), but by the general degradation in the quality of the programme.

The topic of today's fight(?!) was "In this materialistic society of today, has socialism become Irrelevant?" and was fought about by Vijay Mallya, the Kingfisher Casanova, Atul Kumar Anjan, General Secy, CPI, and the other two, their names i cannot recollect, though I should mention that the woman had joined the fight via video conference from Chennai. The 'Fight' started off with Mallya giving 'The First Punch'(believe me, that's what they call it!)Then it slowly degenerated to what any debate ultimately circles down, to one question : Is capitalism better or communism good? and one reason for all the problems of this world: Big Bad Brother US.

It makes you wonder if these programmes are telecasted just to showcase the oratorical skills of the host, who apparently gets to talk most of the time and doesn't let the speakers complete a single sentence, armed with the bell which goes 'bing' as soon as the host realises that the speaker is starting to make sense.

I have decided, instead, to watch 'PKS'(being telecast in SUN TV, the old faithful) for a welcome change. Now here is a movie that is absolutely illogical, but i am thoroughly enjoying it. I guess i am suffering from PTSD
